Audi Braehead
Achievement
The world’s largest Audi retail venue, set to become a new Scottish landmark was successfully developed with the help of the document management system the-project.co.uk.
This new 56,000 square-feet Audi retail venue was opened to the public in Glasgow on Monday October the 11th 2004. This £15 million premises combines extensive sales and service space with outdoor off-road test track, cafés, kindergarten, 160-seat restaurant, museum, art gallery and conference facilities for up to 178 delegates.
the-project.co.uk enabled Audi to successfully manage all their documents and drawings electronically vastly improving their communications and reducing administration costs.
Key Benefits
"The system should prevent insider dealings and fraudulent submissions, plus significantly reduce construction tender programmes in the long term, through efficient supply chain procurement."
Timo Partanen, Project Manager on several Audi projects, SDA |
the-project.co.uk extranet enabled Audi to create this landmark store through fast and efficient document sharing. This allowed strong communications throughout the project between all the different organisations involved. Tangible savings such as reduced printing and administration costs were also experienced by the parties involved.
Audi also took advantage of the eTenderer module. This system integrates online collaborative technologies with procurement automation, to enable purchasing teams to compile detailed tender documents and simultaneously invite tender submissions online by a specified opening date.
The user friendly system ensures even suppliers with no knowledge of online tendering systems could respond easily.
The Approach
By using the-project.co.uk all the information was centralised and continually available worldwide. All document revisions were retained and every transaction audited.
The service was used daily and there were over 2000 documents published with around 100 users from around 40 organisations accessing the system. Audi also successfully used the electronic procurement system eTenderer to compile and allow companies to compete for lucrative tenders online which were processed securely and awarded.
